Feb 9, 2010 - Yes, Star Wars is a great, timeless film saga. Yes, the prequels are not nearly as good as the original trilogy. And yes, it has revolutionized the science fiction genre and has made a major impact on American culture. But really people? Can we just get over it? We love Star Wars, but you're just bitching about something that will never change. EVER. So for the love of God, just drop it already and give Lucas a break. He's made your favorite movies for you, now just STFU and appreciate them.
LifeJuice90 Says:
Feb 9, 2010 - I agree. Star Wars fans are the most segregated bunch of people on the planet. I have seen fights over Star Wars discussions. Some people hate Ewoks, but women and especially children love them. Some people hate CGI (me being one of them) others think it makes the films look better. I wouldn't have a problem with George if he would release the Original theatrical versions of all of the films in HD. Instead he likes to make changes as if to say the originals were workprints.
HardbatProductions Says:
Feb 10, 2010 - The problem is not the prequels... it's that GL won't release the original "Star Wars" in its original academy-award winning form. This is highly unusual for a major motion picture, particularly one that is #12 on the AFI list of top-100 movies of all time. This should bother anyone who cares about movie and art history.

Feb 11, 2010 - I thought the original, unaltered films WERE released on DVD, weren't they?
jesusfreakrkg Says:
Feb 11, 2010 - There are two things to hate... ok three.... or so... 1) New CGI in the original trilogy 2) Han shooting first 3) JarJar Binks.
LifeJuice90 Says:
Feb 12, 2010 - If poor 93 non-anamorphic laser disc transfers count as a DVD release, then yes.
PromusKaa Says:
Feb 12, 2010 - Damn...I had no idea that was what they used for the "unaltered DVD release," which apparently looks like it was a half-assed job. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if those were the only versions of the unaltered films that Lucasfilm had, because it wouldn't surprise me at all if Lucas destroyed the originals. After all, he DID say he wanted them to disappear from public memory and let the "Special Editions" be the "actual versions" of them...
LifeJuice90 Says:
Feb 13, 2010 - His explanation basically states that in creating the special editions his people altered the original negatives to create the special editions. We at original trilogy, know for a fact that these negatives had to be altered via computer copies rather than the original negatives. It is in my belief that they are saying that we are incompetent. If the negatives were altered in any way, it is disrespectful to the fans. Plus, you know they have copies. I heard he still has the Holiday Special.

Feb 14, 2010 - The lightsabre fights at the beginning, the ones after "Every generation has a saga..." Where do they come from? Doesn't look as good as Reign of the Fallen, but I'd like to see that fan film. :P

Mar 10, 2010 - George definately fucked up the prequels but, what's done is done. The only reason I have to be really pissed off at the man, is not marketing a full anamorphic wide screen transfer of the ORIGINAL, original trilogy to DVD or BLUE-RAY with kick-ass Dolby Digital OR (even better, in my opinion) FULL BIT RATE DTS surround sound. I mean, COME ON MAN?!? It's not asking much George, quit being a dick.
